I hope all is well with you today, or tonight wherever you may be in the world reading this post. I recently had an experience that I wanted to share with you. I shared this experience with my Facebook friends and it touched a lot people. I had no idea that my story would have such an impact on so many people at the time, I just wanted to inspire people to go after what they wanted with a decided mind and heart. So I decided that it was only right for me to share this experience with the readers of MackAuthor.com. I really appreciate you and I hope that this personal experience of mine adds value to your life.
Below is the Facebook post I shared with my friends on june 5, 2015.
“Today I walked 6 miles just to make it to a job interview. It took me about 2 hours, and was only there for about 5 minutes. They sent me to do my drug screen. Walked there too.
Why am I sharing this story? I am sharing this story because of what happened before I set out on my journey.
I had asked someone for their assistance. Before I could even say what it was that I wanted they told me no. I asked how they even knew what I wanted. They said, “you want me to take you somewhere and I’m not going nowhere.” I told them that it was for a job interview and where it was at. They told me to start walking, and somebody would pick me up; and they laid back down on the couch with their phone like I wasn’t even there.
In the moment I was really blown away. I’ve looked out for this person before. I could have let that stop me, but I made up in my mind right there I was going to get there. I thought cool to myself and left.
I left and proceeded to walk. I had on a backpack on that weighed about 25 pounds with the things I had in it. And I said to myself, “I’m going to get there if I have to walk the whole way”.
As I walked, lots of cars rode by. Not sure if I knew anyone. A few people waived. Most never payed attention except to not hit me. The whole time I’m thinking, “I’m going to get there no matter what.“
My legs started to hurt about halfway there. All I kept saying to myself was, “pain is weakness leaving the body” over and over again. I kept pushing. Nothing was going to stop me. I was determined to get that job interview, and I was fueled by this person’s refusal to help me.
When I finally got there I was beat. I could barely sign the visitors log, but it was okay because I did what had I set out to do. I was satisfied. More than that, the experience reinforced my will that I could do anything I set my mind to. Even though this person will never have to worry about me doing anything for them ever again, I’m thankful because I turned their negative in my positive.
I’ll let you all know Monday when I get the job. I’m claiming it.
Moral of the story: the journey of 6 miles starts with a single step. There were a lot of reasons I could have found to not do what I did but I didn’t. I created a goal. I envisioned me walking through the door, and I did. Mission accomplished.
Never let anyone or anything stop you from achieving your goals or dreams.“
The message I wanted to get across to you is to JUST DO IT! There will be many things in life that will push against you and try to stop you from achieving your goals or dreams, but you must be willing to go all the way for what you believe in. You have to want success as bad as you want to breath. You must be willing to die trying to achieve your dream. That is the only way. The only person who is stopping you is you. You are the author of your destiny. You are the creator of your universe.
I will share with you the email I received this morning from the employer that will show you that dedication is appreciated, and when you go the extra mile you will see positive results.
Thank you for reading and I hope that you all shoot for the moon so that you land among the stars. If you know someone that would benefit from this story please share it. My mission today was to be a light to the world and be a blessing to someone even if I didn’t know them. I didn’t know how I was going to do this, but I knew my why was big enough that my how would work itself out. I hope that this post reaches someone who needs some encouragement.
Have a blessed and productive day! JUST DO IT!
